Hailstorm cancels more flights in US

An American airline, the United Airlines, says it has canceled 13 more departures from the Denver International Airport of the United States following damage from a recent hailstorm.

The airline's spokesman Mike Trevino said on Sunday that all 13 departures that were canceled on Sunday were United Express regional flights and a 14th flight was canceled for reasons unrelated to the storm, the Associated Press reported.

Denver International Airport's website listed about 20 United arrivals that were canceled at one point on Sunday, but it was not known how many were attributed to the hailstorm.

Eleven United planes remained out of service for inspection, Trevino further said.

The United Airlines said it had canceled more than 100 Denver flights on Thursday and Friday because of the hail inspections.

Meanwhile, the US's Frontier Airlines spokesman Peter Kowalchuk also said 37 of the airline's flights were canceled Sunday, while 39 were set to be canceled on Monday and 18 were to be canceled on Tuesday.

Southwest Airlines, another big carrier in Denver, said three of its planes were damaged by hail, but with 550 planes in its fleet, it did not have to delay or cancel flights.
