'Islamic awakening thwarts US plots'

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar has warned of US plots against popular movements in the Middle East and North Africa, saying the Islamic awakening neutralizes Washington's ploys.

“Regional nations are awakened and will not be deceived by ominous conspiracies of the US and its allies through vigilance and unity,” IRNA quoted Mohammad-Najjar as speaking in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchestan Province on Wednesday.

“Popular uprisings and the Islamic awakening in the Middle East mirror the Islamic Revolution in Iran,” he added.

The Iranian minister emphasized that the Islamic Revolution cut the hands of the global arrogance and pulled out arrogant powers from the country and noted that it raised hope among Muslims across the world.

He warned that the United States and its allies are making efforts to deviate the popular movements in the name of “human rights and democracy.”

Mohammad-Najjar pointed to the tight security in the Islamic Republic, saying Iran is currently one of the most secure countries in the world.

“Iran's security is not reliant on military weapons, although the country has made considerable achievements in this regard,” he noted.

The minister added that enemies are disappointed with the coherence between the Iranian government and nation.

Mohammad-Najjar's remarks came after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad earlier on Wednesday envisaged a new Middle East without the United States and Israel amid the duo's 'ploys to spark an Iranian-Arabian Shia-Sunni conflict.'

“A new Middle East will emerge without the presence of the United States and the Zionist regime (Israel) and their allies in the near future,” said President Ahmadinejad.
