SRINAGAR (AFP) - Two Indian soldiers were killed Saturday in a fierce clash with freedom fighters along the Line of Control that splits Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the army said.
“We have foiled yet another bid by the freedom fighters to infiltrate into this territory from other side,” Indian army spokesman J.S. Brar told AFP in the state summer capital Srinagar.
“Two of our soldiers killed,” he said, adding the fighting was “still going on in the rugged area.”
India says it regularly intercepts the fighters sneaking into Indian Held Kashmir. Pakistan denies Indian allegations it helps the freedom fighters cross into Held Kashmir.
