Pakistan, India agree to continue dialogue process to resolve outstanding issues

Pakistan and India Wednesday decided to continue the dialogue process to resolve all the outstanding issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir through consultation for improving bilateral relations. Foreign Ministers of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar and her Indian counterpart S.K. Krishna held an important meeting here in New Delhi today and discussed all the issues confronting the two countries and announced that “Pak-India relations are on right track”.
Addressing a joint press conference both the foreign ministers expressed satisfaction on the dialogue process and announced a number of measures for increasing people to people contacts, confidence building measures, opening more points for trading across Line of Control for the frequent movement of two parts of Kashmir and increase trade and economic activities.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who was addressing the press conference along with Indian Foreign Minister after his first-ever trip to India said, “This is indeed a new era in bilateral cooperation between the countries.”
Hina Rabbani Khar said, “A new generation of Indians and Pakistanis will see a relationship that will hopefully be much different from the one that has been experienced in the last two decades.”
India’s Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna said the relations with Pakistan were “on the right track”.
He said although there are challenges, adding “I can confidently say that our relations are on the right track.”
Krishna said that he was “satisfied at the progress achieved” in the talks held today with his Pakistani counterpart.
The Indian Foreign Minister said, “We have reaffirmed our commitment to resolve all outstanding issues through a comprehensive, serious and sustained dialogue.”
