TEHRAN: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei delivered a speech marking the 22nd anniversary of the passing of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Seyyed Ruhollah Khomeini, at his mausoleum in Tehran June 4, 2011.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the country throws its weight behind all popular anti-US movements in the region.
“Our stance regarding these public movements is crystal clear. Anywhere there is a popular Islamic and anti-US movement, we support it,” the Leader said on Saturday.
“However, if we see that a movement is provoked by the US or Zionists, we will not support that movement. We support movements that are against the US and Zionism,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
“Anywhere the US or the Zionist regime (Israel) is involved to topple a government or occupy a country, that is the point where we are against it,” the Leader reiterated.
Ayatollah Khamenei also praised popular Islamic movements and the wave of Islamic Awakening in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Leader warned against US plots to hijack the revolutions and said, “The United States does not do anything in the interests of regional nations. Whatever they have done so far has been against regional nations.”
Khamenei urged Muslim countries to remain vigilant in the face of the Western plots.
The Leader said that the US, Israel and their Western allies were plotting to stop victories of revolutions in regional countries but Muslim nations will emerge victorious if they remain vigilant and abide by the teachings of the Muslim holy book, the Qur'an.
Ayatollah Khamenei paid tribute to Imam Khomeini and said the Iranian nation has stood up to the most serious conspiracies against the country thanks to Imam Khomeini 's guidance.
“The Iranian nation has followed in the footsteps of Imam Khomeini and has maintained Imam Khomeini's ideals,” the Leader said, reiterating that the Iranian nation will continue the path of Imam.
