What the world is reading

FORBES
As the Oprah Winfrey Show enters its 25th and last season, Lacey Rose comments and critiques Winfrey's much celebrated tradition of gifting the audience members from pants, books and cookies to even sedans. "Now, on her first day of her final season, the Queen of Daytime TV has done one better: an all-expenses-paid trip to Australia with Winfrey herself as chaperon, " writes Rose. "This is my 25th season, and this is my last chance to really do something big, " Winfrey told 300 viewers seated before her on the Chicago set Monday morning. "In fact, the magnanimous offering was one of many larger-than-life features of her 25th season opener, all strategic plays to remain a newsmaker. " Other surprise bits included a song composed and performed by Paul Simon and a visit from the elusive Don Johnson, who returned a pair of flashy sunglasses Winfrey's producers had sent him 25 seasons earlier to get him on the show (he refused).
