Pressure for Afridi’s release

Quoting a British newspaper Guardian, TheNation has reported in its July 13 issue that the US government is pressurizing Pakistan to release Dr. Shakil Afridi who was recruited by CIA to obtain DNA samples of Osama bin Laden family members by running a fake vaccination campaign in Abottabad. It was bad enough that Raymond Davis, an American national, a CIA saboteur and murderer was released.
It would be just too much if Dr. Shakil Afridi, a Pakistani national, who colluded with the CIA without the knowledge, and against the interest of Pakistani authorities, is released and allowed to go to the US where the American authorities want to take him along with his family. If he is let off, it will lure others to this get-rich-quick strategy, safe in the knowledge that if they are ever caught, their patrons will get them off the hook and offer them comfortable living in the United States, a dream-come-true for such people.
