Pakistan not to accept hegemony: Khursheed Shah

LAHORE – Federal Religious Affairs Minister Khursheed Shah has said that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power and will not accept any country’s hegemony in the region.
Talking to Waqt News, he said, “We will solve the Karachi issue with dialogue not with the bullet. Some people want to create disturbance under the garb of religion. We have learnt from past but Mian brethren didn’t. They should not repeat the politics of past in which both the political parties strived for bringing down the governments.”
He said in past we have adopted the way of scuffle but now making coalitions with our allies including ANP and MQM. The world is not getting a positive image due to Karachi situation and economy is also deteriorating. To a question, he said, “We offered 50-50 ratio on Kashmir seats to MQM but they did not agree. There is no bowing down in politics instead it is called a sacrifice or reconciliation. We withdraw both our candidates from the seats but what was happened on Kashmir seats in Lahore is evident before all.”
He advised Mian brethren not to become emotional and let the institutions do their work. “Establishment never said that transfer this judge to Islamabad from Lahore. We also reconciled with the judiciary, finalised the NFC Award and now the share of Balochistan is far bigger than before,” he added.
Meanwhile, Federal Religious Affairs Minister Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said that PPP was not afraid of any grand alliance, as it had the courage and guts to face any eventuality.
“Nawaz Sharif has the right to make grand alliance but has no right to blame anybody including Tehrek-e-Insaf,” Shah said while talking to media at the Lahore Airport. He said PPP workers would foil all conspiracies against the government under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Shah said PPP government was continuing with its policy of reconciliation, and this was the reason that resignations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement members had not been accepted as yet. To a question, he said that PPP wanted to maintain law and order situation in Karachi. “The dialogue with MQM on Karachi situation will bear fruit soon.” To another question, he said the government was talking with all political forces for peace in Karachi. To a question regarding pilgrims, he said letters to Haj pilgrims would be sent by August 2011.
