ALWAR: Two days after a Class XI student went missing, his body was found on Monday with several stab wounds in Arawali police station area of Alwar district. Police have rounded up a teenager on charges of murdering Himanshu Khandelwal. They said preliminary investigations revealed that the accused Ramesh (name changed) had brutally killed Himanshu for harassing his sister. According to the police, the deceased was a resident of Indra Colony in Alwar and a Class XI student of Chinar Public School.
"He (Himanshu) had left home on Saturday evening saying that he would return in a couple of hours but went missing for two days. On Monday, his body was found behind a bush near R R College in Arawali," a police officer said, adding, "Some passers-by spotted the body and informed police. Himanshu's father Anil Khandelwal was later called to the spot and he confirmed that the body belonged to his son."
Family members of the deceased had lodged a missing person's complaint with the police station when they could not find the boy but police allegedly delayed filing of the case.
Blaming police of inaction, they said their complaint was not immediately filed as the personnel had suggested that Himanshu must have eloped with a girl and would return on his own. The family members said Himanshu could have been saved had the police acted on time.
The police officer said the postmortem has revealed stab marks on various parts of the body, including in the chest, hands and legs. "He was stabbed repeatedly and his body was dumped near the college building," he said.
"During investigation of the case, we came to know that Himanshu had a fight with Ramesh some days ago. This put Ramesh under suspicion and we detained him," the officer said.
Preliminary interrogation of Ramesh suggested that Himanshu used to harass his sister. "Ramesh had warned Himanshu to stay away from his sister but semed to have he ignored it. And when Ramesh saw Himanshu harassing her again, he decided to kill him," he said. The officer said Ramesh, after planning the murder, called Himanshu to a place and suddenly attacked with a knife. He added that questioning of Ramesh, who is not yet booked formally, was on.
The body was handed over to the family members after the post mortem.
