Malaysia's 10 royal palaces to stamp their mark on July 18

KUALA LUMPUR: Come Monday, the country's 10 magnificient royal palaces will stamp their mark when Pos Malaysia's stamp and philately collection goes on sale.

Malaysia's majestic heritage will be depicted by Istana Negara Kuala Lumpur,
Istana Besar Seri Menanti (Negeri Sembilan), Istana Alam Shah (Selangor), Istana
Iskandariah (Perak), Istana Arau (Perlis),


Istana Anak Bukit (Kedah), Istana Balai Besar (Kelantan), Istana Abu Bakar
(Pahang), Istana Maziah (Terengganu) and Istana Besar in Johor.


Pos Malaysia Berhad Stamp and Philately Unit manager Diyana Lean Abdullah
said the collection was to express appreciation for and monumentalise

Malaysia's majestic heritage.

"Each stamp measures 32mm x 27mm and is valued at RM1 individually, but
printed in a set of 10," she told a media conference here today.

She said Pos Malaysia would also issue a stamp booklet containing the

collection and 10 pages tracing the history of the palaces' architecture. The
set would cost RM25 each. A folder priced at RM5.50 each on the same depictions would be sold at selected post offices, she added.

Diyana Lean said Pos Malaysia would also issue First Day Cover envelopes
priced at 50 sen each. According to her, a total of 35,000 first-day cover envelopes would be made available to the public between 8.30am and 5pm, at post offices nationwide.

Meanwhile, on Aug 8, Pos Malaysia will jointly issue with Indonesia, their
first four stamps depicting the architecture, currency, historical building and
fauna, respectively," she said. -- Bernama
