A survey has revealed that women usually carry everything from sex toys, screwdrivers to spare knickers in their handbags.
The contents also included keys, tissues and make-up, tarot cards, dog biscuits and a piano tuning fork.
About a fifth of women surveyed said that they had used their handbag as an object to hide behind when not feeling confident on a "fat day".
Sixteen per cent said that their handbag was like a "security blanket", reports The Scotsman.
Another 21 per cent said that receiving a compliment about their handbag was the ultimate flattery, while a third per cent had confessed to feeling envious of another woman with a nice bag.
The 'Kellogg's special mini break' survey of more than 2,000 women also revealed that an average woman owns seven handbags, spending around 82 pounds on each item that is an average handbag collection worth around 580 pounds.
